A Review on Risk Management of Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID-19) Infection in Dental Practice: Focus on Prosthodontics and All-Ceramic Materials

Background: A novel ?-coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was first detected in Wuhan city, spreading rapidly to other countries and leading a pandemic. Dental professionals patients are exposed high risk of COVID-19 infection, particularly the prosthodontic practice, because bio-aerosol produced during teeth preparation with dental handpieces strict contact oral fluids impression making. This paper aimed provide an overview limit transmission infections prosthetic procedures offices. Methods: An electronic search conducted on databases PubMed/Medline, Google Scholar, Embase, Scopus, Dynamed, Open Grey following queries: AND/OR (SARS-CoV-2) (Coronavirus) (contaminated surface) (cross-infection) (Prosthodontics) (dental ceramic) (glass-ceramic). manual performed as well. Results: From 1023 collected records, 32 papers were included. Conclusions: offices at SARS-CoV-2 due close continuous exposure saliva procedures. Therefore, pre-check triages via telephone, decontamination, disinfection impressions, sterilization scanner tips, use specific personal protective equipment, high-speed dedicated anti-retraction valves, effective mouthwashes strongly recommended.
